Elongated Tortoise

The Elongated Tortoise (Indotestudo elongata), also known as the Yellow-Headed Tortoise, is a distinctive Asian tortoise recognized for its elongated, relatively narrow shell and yellow head. It is native to parts of South and Southeast Asia, including India, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Thailand, and Malaysia.

Elongated Tortoise Appearance

The carapace is typically yellowish-brown and may feature darker markings or smudges on individual scutes. Adult males can be distinguished from females by their more pronounced plastral concavity and considerably longer tails.

Elongated Tortoises are associated with humid forest environments and can also be observed using open areas for basking. They are active animals that benefit from an appropriately maintained environment with access to water for drinking and regular bathing.
